But It Snowed!

2010 tied with 2005 for the warmest year recorded.

The Earth's average temperature in 2010, as in 2005, was 58.12 degrees, which is 1.12 degrees above the 20th-century average of 57 degrees.
It was the 34th consecutive year that the global temperature was above average, according to the data center. The last below-average year was 1976.

Think about that. You would expect even as temperatures rise, that roughly half of the time you'd record a below average temperature year, yet that hasn't happened in 35 years. Jimmy Carter was president the last time we recorded a below average temperature year.

This is global surface temperatures. For oceanic readings, this is the third warmest on record, and the year tied with 1998 for the warmest as recorded by satellite temperature records.

But it snowed, so there. And Al Gore is fat.
