Was out in the garden clearing some of the debris from the asparagus bed, and saw the first spears starting to emerge.

One of my favorite places, deep in the heart of West Virginia. I've been atop these ridges, and deep below them.

Here's Molly with her paternal grandparents, after we broke a bottle of champagne over her head and sent her down the quays.

53/365: Baptism

Normally, I shy away from posting family pictures, but for the next few posts I'll make an exception. We had Molly baptised Sunday. Her granddaddy is a retired Presbyterian minister (he's the distinguished gentleman in the robes) and he did the honors. The other folks are aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, and great aunts (and mommy and daddy, of course).

42/365: Seed Starting

I plant a fairly large garden every spring. I usually start getting excited in February, and wind up starting my seeds so early that I have to pot up twice before setting the seedlings out. This year, I curbed my enthusiasm and waited until March, so hopefully, I'll only have to pot up once.

33/365: Spinach Head

We've been introducing Molly to a new food each week. This week was spinach. She LOVED it, but still managed to get it all over herself!
An aside: I'm making Molly's baby food from scratch, rather than buying the little jars. Its absurdly easy to do, and you don't have to worry about added salt or sugar. This book, which was graciously given to us by a member of our CSA, has been a great help.
