You've tasted Eddie before!

Guess Who? (It Ain't The Guess Who)

How did he manage to get Freddy Prinz to play bass?

Weekend Tunes

Saw The Homemade Jamz Blues Band at the Pittsburgh Blues Fest Saturday Night. The guitarist is 16, his 14 year olf brother plays bass, and their nine-year old sister is on drums! This video hardly does them justice. And yes, those guitars are made out of mufflers.

Pedal Power

We purchased a couple of bicycles last week, partly for the exercise, and partly because its rather stupid to drive two miles to the grocery for the weekly shopping trip. So it was with interest that I saw the city has named a "bicycling Czar." By the way, I'm getting damn sick and tired of everyone appointed to look into some issue being declared a "czar."

While I think its great that we're making an effort to promote cycling, I just don't see it becoming a widespread phenomenom around here, especially the bicycling commute, unless Czar Patchan figures out a way to flatten the terrain.

I did find this interesting website through the P-G article though. The maps showing suggested bicycling routes throughout town are especially useful.

Into The Woods!

I've got nothing today, so instead, I put up a few pics of our mushroom foray at Harrison Hills Park over the weekend. If you're interested in going on a mushroom hunt, you can find more info here.

A pretty purple mushroom.

A Frost's bolete.

The woods were loaded with chanterelles. MUst have picked two pounds of 'em.

Loads of oyster mushrooms on a fallen log!

Mmmmm....Chicken of the Woods!

Identifying the mushrooms at the picnic table.
