Piratefest!!

Piratefest means two things: The Superbowl is next week, and Spring Training is just around the corner!

What's In It For Me?

Piratefest is kid orientated, so why do I go?? To get my opening day tickets, of course!

Play Ball!

Hey now, you're an all-star...wait, why is Hines Ward playing first base??

Future Sportscaster

FSN had a display where kids could take a shot at being a sportscaster!

Hmmmm

I don't know what this has to do with baseball or the Pirates, but kids did seem to have a great time beating each other with giant Q-Tips.

Friday Puppy Blogging!

Dusty went to the vet today, and everyone in the office had to snuggle and pet her. She now weighs five pounds, and her shots are all up to date. We go back next month for her final series of shots.

Ye Olde Book Shelf

I recently finished two more books off the extensive reading list. First was Susan Jacoby's Freethinkers, which, as the subtitle clearly states, is a history of American secularism (I can think of a few regular commentators who might do well to read this). It is an interesting and informative book, but at times is hard slogging.

The other book I just finished was His Excellency, by Joseph J. Ellis. This book is an easy to read, 275 page biography of George Washington, from his early days as a Colonial militial officer to his final days at Mt. Vernon. Quite good!
