All-Star Game Blogging!!
I had a great time at the game, worth every penny! I'll have some Fan-Fest photos later, including a picture of the Mysterious Pink Fists of Fiddling.
Freddy turns two!! Sanchez made a couple of nice plays in the field, although he went hitless. Jason Bay was one-for-tree at the plate, and made a great catch in right field early in the game.
The AL wins again! Michael Young of the Texas Rangers wins the MVP after driving in the tying and winning runs in the top of the ninth. Trevor Hoffman of the Padres wins the not-so-coveted Cass Elliot Award, giving up three hits and two runs after having two out with no one on.Tuesday, July 11, 2006
Home Run Derby!

Josh Gibson. PNC Park installed a really cool Negro Leagues interactive display at the left field entrance. Computer kiosks giive information about the player, team, and more. Fascinating stuff, and a real shame that so many of these guys didn't get the opportunity to play in the Majors.

If you look just over the roof, you'll see the exhaust trails and wingtips of the two F-14's that buzzed the field following the National Anthem. Sheesh, did they go by fast! Almost gone before I could snap the shutter.
And speaking of the the National Anthem, can we PLEASE get a singer who sings it in a traditional manner, rather than tinkering with the notes and the tempo? Personalizing it on your own album is fine, but how do you expect us to sing along when the artist insists on putting his or her own stamp on it? Personally, I'd prefer a canned version by the Marine Corps Band.

Living History!
Was down at the C&O Canal in Williamsport this weekend for some living history! Got to talk to quite a few people about the Civil War while we camped along the towpath. Here's the undamaged side of the aquaduct carrying the canal over one of the many creeks that run into the Potomac. Off to the Futures Game!
Canal Ditch. The long-term plan is to repair the aquaduct and rewater the rest of the canal in the Williamsport arae, and then offer canal boat rides through the aquaduct and then through the locks. Anyone got around 100 million dollars?Friday, July 07, 2006

Dusty sees one of her doggie friends!
Lots going on this weekend...we have All-Star game festivities and a big air show at the airport. I'm off to Williamsport MD, for some living history along the C&O Canal. We'll be at the Cushwa Basin if you're in the area and want to say "hi!"

DId Anyone Get the License Number Of That F/A-18?

Yesterday, I kept hearing low flying jets streaking by, but everytime I went outside to see what the hubbub was, they'd already passed by. Turned out it was the Blue Angels practicing for this weekend's air show at PIA.
I wish I made it out in time to see them go by, just hearing those jets flying past was an experience.
This reminds me of an incident many years ago when I lived in Oil City. I heard a loud droning in the distance, walked out to my porch, and was stunned to see a B-17 flying over town, headed for the local airport and the Wings over Venango airshow.
